A large spoon carved by axe and knife from lilac wood, featuring bark on the handle and measuring 24cm in length. Finished with food safe walnut oil and beeswax.
Lilac is one of my favourite wood species to carve fresh. It has a soft yet dense texture under the knife, and smells wonderful. It's not something I come across often, and especially not in this size so I was excited to carve something special out of it, The bowl is a generous size for serving, and the bark inclusion on the handle makes for a comfortable grip.

Care for your woodeware:
Do not put in the dishwasher! Wash with warm soapy water, avoid soaking and dry soon after.
Once or twice a year you can oil with walnut, linseed, foodsafe mineral oil or something similar.
With regular use the woodenware will form a patina. This adds to both the strength and character of the utensil.
