A larger spoon carved with axe and knife from a curved birch branch featuring chip carving on the handle, mushroom finial and measuring 26cm in length. Lightly carbonised and finished with walnut oil and beeswax.

I carved this spoon from a slightly curved birch branch found on the floor of the new forest during a solo camping trip in late 2020. As it was a bigger branch I axed out most of the rough shape near where I found it to reduce the weight I had to carry. The mushroom finial was inspired by the multitudes of mushrooms I came across (but never picked!) on my trip. The spoon is designed for stirring, and for use as a serving spoon/ladle.

Care for your woodeware:
Do not put in the dishwasher! Wash with warm soapy water, avoid soaking and dry soon after.
Once or twice a year you can oil with walnut, linseed, foodsafe mineral oil or something similar.
With regular use the woodenware will form a patina. This adds to both the strength and character of the utensil.
