A Serving spoon carved with axe and knife from beech wood measuring aprox. 25cm in length, featuring a textured handle and an owl finial. Finished with walnut oil and beeswax.
The wood for this spoon was collected from a felled beech tree in the local cemetery. Carved from a bent branch, the spoon has extra strength in the crank as the curve follows the grain. Though I've carved a few owls by now, it seemed particularly appropriate for this spoon and the pose of it provided a great challenge. This spoon would work well as either a serving spoon or cooking in general, and will age beautifully with use.

Care for your woodeware:
Do not put in the dishwasher! Wash with warm soapy water, avoid soaking and dry soon after.
Once or twice a year you can oil with walnut, linseed, foodsafe mineral oil or something similar.
With regular use the woodenware will form a patina. This adds to both the strength and character of the utensil.
