An eating spoon carved from spalted beech, measuring approx 16cm in length and featuring an owl finial and chip carving on the handle. Finished with walnut oil and beeswax.

While in the north of Italy early in 2022 my partner and I came accross a huge fallen beech tree. I took one decent branch with a few curves in it as a souvineer, not realising it would have such beatiful spalting and colour inside! The owl finial was not originally part of the plan for this spoon, however after going to deep carving one of the triangle notches near the top of the handle I was forced to alter the original shape slightly. A happy accident and a fun challenge!

Care for your woodeware:
Do not put in the dishwasher! Wash with warm soapy water, avoid soaking and dry soon after.
Once or twice a year you can oil with walnut, linseed, foodsafe mineral oil or something similar.
With regular use the woodenware will form a patina. This adds to both the strength and character of the utensil.
